Jacobs ladder is a downhill rush located at the top of Corner Canyon. The trail is relatively short but well worth the climb to reach it. It can easily be combined with other trails in the area and should not be missed if you are up to the challenge. This is not a trail for beginners. Watch for oncoming traffic as the trail is also used by hikers as well as riders riding up the trail.
Jacobs ladder rides a ridge line with steep drops on each side. The downhill is fast paced with rock outcrops, tight turns, and loose sand to keep you on your toes. There are many opportunities to get some good air and long horizontal flights. There is also an awesome drop near the end that is the highlight of the ride.
You can access Jacobs ladder from several routes. Clark's Trail is a great option when riding from the Draper side, providing a 3.5 mile climbing workout. You can also climb Ghost Falls and either ride up Jacobs or use the Corner Canyon road to connect to the Clarks exit. From the Alpine side you can grind up Hog Hollow to connect to the trail.
Trail Riding Instructions
Exit Clark's trail and head up the rough doubletrack that crosses the Corner Canyon road.
Follow the double track until you see three steep jeep tracks going uphill. The left most is easiest.
Continue following the doubletrack as it winds up the mountain. Try to watch for bike tracks as there are many smaller roads branching from the main road.
At 1.1 miles fork left up a small singletrack which connects to another doubletrack that shoots you down a steep hill. Try to build up enough speed to make it up the other side.
At 1.4 miles fork left and follow the doubletrack, staying right at all forks/intersections until you reach Jacobs
At 1.7 miles you reach the entrance. Drop your seat, check your helmet and bomb down the hill.
At 2.4 Miles you reach a fork and can take the old, much funner, trail by heading right or the newer trail, lots of switchbacks, by heading left. Both trails exit near the entrance to Ghost Falls.
